Unlike many of the other level measurement systems available on the market, the KATRONIC instruments can operate completely non-invasive. The meters are able to determine liquid level utilising a similar transit-time ultrasonic calculation as used in our KATflow type flowmeters. The SONOMETER instruments are installed on the outside of the vessel without any contact with the liquid. The principal advantage of this type of level transmitter is that is can be easily retrofitted to existing tanks, vessels and cylinders without compromising the integrity of the application.

The instruments that we offer split into three categories:

Continuous Level Measurement:
For the SONOMETER systems, the sensors are mounted to the bottom of the vessel to be measured. The transmitter provides a continuous output of level which can then be equated to volume. The meter is also able to supply an alarm output for low level or overflow purposes.

Point Level Control:
The SONOCONTROL devices are mounted on the side of the tank and are used as a level alarm. They can be mounted to most common vessels and are used for high/low level alarms, overflow alarms and for differentiating between different liquids of phases in common tanks.

Special Systems:
The flexibility of both the SONOMETER and SONOCONTROL equipment mean that it can be used for a massive variety of other applications. Sensors can be fitted to pipes in order to act as a wet/dry detector or used as part of a pig detection system for automated pipe cleaning. They can also be mounted to the bottom of large gas pipelines to detect and meter levels of condensate formation.
