The KATflow 150 is an clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter for permanent installation on simple and advanced applications
alike.

Due to the flow meter’s variety of input, output and measurement options, the multi-fuctional instrument can be tailored to the
needs of the customer.

General information

The KATflow 150 has an IP 66 enclosure with a digital display and a protected but easily accessible keypad. It can be equipped with one or two flow channels depending on the requirements of
the user.

Equipped with a single set of sensors, the flow meter can measure on one pipe. By using two sets of sensors, the instrument can monitor two pipes simultaneously.

Alternatively, with both sets installed on one pipe, the ultrasonic flowmeter can also measure in a multipath mounting configuration.

The fixed-installed ultrasonic flow meter is also capable of measuring the temperature of the fluid using clamp-
on PT 100 sensors and can therefore determine thermal
energy consumption.

This makes the flow meter also suitable for contactless thermal energy metering e.g. on HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems.

Additionally, the KATflow 150 can also be used for pressure, temperature and viscosity compensated flow measurement systems.

The specification of the instrument can be taken one step further by applying the optional speed-of-sound measurement function.

This enables the KATflow 150 to be employed for contactless concentration monitoring applications (e.g. as product
recognition system).

In addition to the PT 100 temperature inputs, the KATflow 150 also offers optional process inputs (current) and outputs (current,
digital open-collector and digital relay).

The KATflow 150 features several product innovations including a graphical display providing the user with more information on the meter and a diagnostic screen with digital oscilloscope function.

Furthermore, by equipping every KATflow clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter with the Audible Sensor Positioning Assistant - a new intelligent sensor location function - Katronic have made correct sensor positioning easier than ever before.

Data logger and serial interface

The KATflow 150 can be equipped with an internal data logger, which is available in two sizes to store up to 30,000 or 100,000 samples.

When ordered with a data logger, the flow meter is also supplied with the KATdata+ software.

It enables the user to download and visualise the flow data on a computer either after the measurement or in real-time using the embedded terminal function.

The data can be transferred via the instrument’s RS 232 interface or an optional RS 232 to USB converter.

There is also an optional RS 485 interface available, which can be enabled for Modbus protocol communication.

Due to its various process input, output, and serial communication options, the KATflow 150 can easily be embedded into automated process monitoring and controlling systems.

Ex approved transmitter enclosure and ultrasonic sensor options

In addition to the KATflow 150 standard version for safe area applications, Katronic also offers Ex certified ultrasonic
transmitter and sensor modifications for permanent
installation in hazardous areas.

The flow sensors supplied with the KATflow 150 are manufactured with a stainless steel head and sturdy cable conduit ensuring extreme robustness and are fully auto detected.

The ultrasonic sensors cover a pipe diameter range from 10 mm to over 3,000 mm and process temperatures from -30 °C to +200 °C.

Measurement technology

All KATflow clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters apply ultrasonic transit-time measurement technology.

This enables the instruments to provide highly accurate and reliable flow data for almost any kind of liquid regardless of its electric conductivity.
