Water supply and wastewater services

To paraphrase someone, “Water, water everywhere and not a drop that I’d like to drink….”.

Let’s face it, when it comes to words like sewage, effluent, sludge and some other less polite ones, it is good to know that expressions like non-contact, non-invasive and clamp-on exist.

If you are building a new treatment plant, or pumping station, the ever-present electromagnic flowmeter could well be the obvious choice. However on existing non-metered pipelines, or locations where a meter has failed surely a clamp-on ultrasonic meter such as the KATflow 110 should be the simple choice?

Breaking into pipelines is costly, time-consuming and difficult at the best of times but when it involves getting your hands really dirty then non-invasive is best. There is no loss of output, not cost and no risk of anything hitting the proverbial fan in the event of a problem. Furthermore, given the size of many of the pipelines in the water industry, a KF110 could even be the most cost effective solution. It is not widely known that on pipes larger than 100 mm, a KATRONIC clamp-on flowmeter can be cheaper to buy and install than an equivalent mag-meter.

As well as permanently installed ultrasonic meters, the portable type KF220 is also a valuable tool in the water industry. The meter can be used for numerous applications on both the clean and dirty side of the industry, in pipes up to diameters greater than 2,000 mm.

Typical Applications:
• Wet-well discharge
• Pump verification
• Aeration flow measurement
• Raw water flow metering

Reference Customers:
• Thames Water
• Anglian Water
• Severn Trent Water
