The toxic, corrosive and hazardous nature of many of the products used in the petrochemical industry often makes the choice of a non-invasive flowmeter a natural one. Commonly, clamp-on flowmeters are called upon when an existing flowmeter has failed, or additional metering is required on an operating system and the ease in which an instrument can be fitted is paramount.

As an ultrasonic flowmeter can be installed without the need for costly pipe modification, or the risk of leakage and contamination it is often the cheapest option.

One of the most significant changes in petrochemical industry in recent years was the introduction of the ATEX directive for electrical equipment in hazardous areas. Katronic Technologies can offer you fully ATEX certified flowmeters for Zone 1 usage. If preferred by the customer, Katronic can also supply panel or wall mounted enclosures for installation in the control room with extension cables leading back to the ATEX certified sensors in the hazardous area.

The KATflow sensors are manufactured from stainless steel to ensure their suitability for even the most demanding of environmental conditions and can be applied to varying pipe materials including Duplex, plastic, steel and even lined pipes.
