Oil and gas
With a selection of flowmeter configurations, the clamp-on instruments from Katronic Technologies are finding success on a variety of applications in the oil and gas sectors.
The toxic, hazardous, high-pressure conditions found within the pipelines of the oil and gas sector make for some of the most testing measurement environments to be found anywhere. Added to this are atmospheric conditions that can feature massive fluctuations in temperature, high levels of sand and saline and high humidity.
Non-invasive flowmeters have flourished under these difficult circumstances, as the lack of need for pipe modifications have proved highly popular. Furthermore, as the KATRONIC flowmeters are completely independent of process pressure, they are perfect for many of the very high-pressure applications where conditions can sometime exceed 300 bar g.
Unlike some ultrasonic instruments, the KATflow range from KATRONIC is also able to work on Duplex pipelines and very thick-walled steel conduits (schedule xxx). In the past, there have been suggestions that clamp on flowmeters were not suitable for use in these situations, however we already have several references on duplex piping.
The KATflow flowmeters can be supplied with panel-mounted safe area transmitters (KATflow 140) for control room use, epoxy coated aluminium for certain applications and in stainless steel (KATflow 160) for areas of high corrosion risk.
As well as liquid flows we are also able to supply metering systems for high pressure gas flows.
Typical Applications: • Methanol/water injection • Coiled tubing metering • Produced water measurements of OPPC
Reference Customers: • PSN • ConocoPhilips • Costain Petrofac • Tullow Oil and Gas • BG Group • Amec
